I love making cards, especially note cards with nothing on the inside of the card, but instead a place where I am able to write up something to the person directly! I might use it as a way to say thank you, or a way to say I am sorry...depending on the person getting it! For a basic card, here are a few tips - and ideas to get you started!
**Tip** As you are picking out products you like, look at alternatives to help you save money - such as templates, punches, and die cut machines over stickers, die cuts and rub-ons that you can only use once.
With these first set of cards shown, I used a simple butterfly die cut from Sizzix, you have your choice of quite a few different styles in the link above! If you don't have a machine, I would really look at Sizzix to start with, especially if you are on a budget! You can see in the next two cards how the butterflies are the same, just in a different color - with the background paper being what is the focus! With the green card, I used a darker green card base, with the lighter green as the accents! I love how each of them turned out - and how easy using die cuts are when you are making cards! It's not all about stamping!
Same thing with the flower cards - same flower die cut from Sizzix, with buttons placed in the middle of each flower! You could add a saying if you wanted to - or a bit more "bling" if you think it's too plain... However, as you are just starting out - you really don't need to create harder projects!
Supplies you will need to create your own note cards:
Card base w/envelope
Background paper
Die cuts of your choice
Any other embellishment if needed
Basic note card directions:
Step one: Look at the scraps of paper you might already have available from other projects. Start to put them aside to see what colors you have that will match or go well together.
Step two: Taking your card base, cut your scraps so it is just smaller than your card base. Adhere it with your adhesive to the card base. If you have a second color - repeat!
Step three: Take your die cut shapes and add those to your card base with any embellishments you need to (such as the buttons to the flowers and the brads to the top cards.
Step four: Turn your card over - and make sure to stamp (if you have something to use) or write a small "handmade for you - by..." adding your name to it! This way, when people get the note cards, they know you took the time to create it yourself! Enjoy making your own handmade note cards - with your scraps - and your own personal touch!
