Beginner Paper Craft Bookmarks

Tygress
I have three cats, momma and the boys - momma was born the September after my husband and I got together - so I can always keep track of her age - going on 14 this year.  They have an entire album all of their own, as they are just as much a part of the family as anyone (just ask my kids, they will tell you)!
However...you just gotta love Tygress - our momma cat...who, after getting a hair ball, will "get up" said hair ball where ever she is at, at the time!  Now, I also love to read...  Since Ty decided to get up her hair ball in my can of bookmarks, I had to make more!  All of the bookmarks here are done using punches, scraps of paper, and whatever I had available to me to create these one of a kind bookmarks...  The only thing I need to do is add the tassels on the top with ribbon and floss!

This is a great beginner project if you are just starting out with paper crafting - and check back later this month for a brand new style of bookmarks I am making that is a bit harder to make versus these!  To get started, here are a few tips, and directions below:
  • Look at your scraps of paper for appropriate sizes of scraps to make your bookmarks around 2" x 6".  This is for the background piece.  Check out coordinating papers for the embellishments.
  • Look at the basic supplies you have that can be added to it - such as punch pieces, die cuts, stickers, 3D stickers, stamps...and start to create your bookmarks!

Directions:
Step one:  Taking your background color for the base of the bookmark, cut to 2" x 6" (or 2.25" if you would like them a bit thicker). Step two: Taking your corner rounder, round each of the corners.
Step three:  Find scraps of paper left over from other projects, and start to decorate the bases with paper.
Step four:  Take die cuts, punches, stamps or whatever you want to use, and start to decorate the bookmarks making each one unique.
Step five:  Hole punch a circle at the top part of the bookmark to put the ribbon and floss through for the tassels.

Fun project for me to do, even though it was the reason I had to create in the first place!  Gotta love my baby girl - but I hate those hair balls!!!  I hope you have fun creating one of a kind bookmarks for your books!
Thanks for stopping by,
Lynda Jeffs
