That "One" Stamp - Used Different Ways

When you purchase a stamp, there are different things you should ask yourself before you buy it...   Is it a stamp you can use over and over again, or is it just for one use only?  (Birthday vs invitation) Do you have other stamps you can pair with this "one" you are buying?   Madge is that "one" stamp that I can use in different ways, just by the sayings and papers I used.  One is a birthday card, one is a friendship card, and one says "is it coffee yet"!  Madge is awesome!!!   A small saying stamp - can also be used in different ways!  One was embossed and left square - the other two rounded corners!  Different colors of background papers used from my background papers from other projects!    I have had this stamp (from Close To My Heart) for quite a long time now (since the 90's)!  It is the kind of stamp I have used with oval shaped (for Easter Baskets), down to hearts inside the basket, down to flowers!...

Going Through Your Paper Scraps -

What do you do with your scraps of paper used from other projects - do you throw them away, or do you keep each piece?  I have found over the years to keep it all - even the small strip's of paper so I can use them on my tags, cards, bookmarks, and embellishments such as punch's, paper piecing's and stamps!  It is how I organize it all that helps me get more done!  Let me show you: I gather scraps I want to use from my bin (shown above) that are large enough for me to use on my card bases, tags and both style of bookmarks.     I will then cut down to size the various bases I want - and add them to my box of bases in the categories I have - tags, corner bookmarks, tall bookmarks, and card bases.  I also keep the envelopes in the photo box as well, this way when I am working on something - it is all together in one place.   The key is for you to figure out the things you create - that by using this technique, you will ...

Card Making Money Saving Tips

I have been making cards for the past 25 years - and have learned a lot along the way!  Not only when it comes to creating beautiful cards, but also in saving money when it comes to purchasing supplies too!  I don't spend a lot of money on my crafting supplies now - because when I did have a lot of money - I spent A LOT OF IT, and didn't use my money as wisely as I could have!  A lot of supplies have been wasted - and the money spent along with it.  It is that in which I have learned along the way I wanted to talk about here! Trust me - you truly DON'T need each and every supply out there know to papercrafter's!  Have a use for it, and what makes a great buy - is one you can use with other theme's as well (such as a balloon stamp - can be used for a birthday, baby shower, anniversary).   Paper - 8.5 x 11 sheets of cardstock cut in half, adding a simple envelope, makes awesome card bases for just about any theme you need to send out!  Plus you...

Monthly Planning Challenge

It is "that time of the month" again - no not Aunt Flo, but time for you to go through your calendar for the next few month's worth of events that we need to plan, create, or simply add to your calendar!  So, grab your favorite items to get planning with, and lets get started!   Take a look at the next 6 weeks - until the end of March.  What type of events do you have coming up that needs to be addressed?  Do you have birthday's, anniversaries, holiday's, or special events that you need to purchase, make, or plan for?   Next look at the next 3 months - until the end of May - same as before what types of things do you have coming up that you need to look at?   Finally - take a look at the next 6 months - until the end of August...  Same as before, do you have anything that you need to plan for, make things for - or purchase for?  Get a list going!!! My list - well, this is helping me get more done!  The next part for me...

Working Through the Non-Creative Times

I'm not sure about you all, but as for me - I go in spurts when it comes to creating!  There are just times in my life that I just can't create, no matter what I do!  Either something is stressing me out - or the creativity just isn't there!  I also create best when I am on a time limit - or when the inspiration hits me,  which is often times not the most opportun e time, let me tell you!!!  So, what do YOU do at times like this - when it is harder t o create than at other times?  I came up with a few ideas to help get out of the creative rut and more don e!  Check out some magazines or books you have for inspiration.  I get you probably have different things you already want to make, but go with a fresh eye this time ... look for HOW they did something - versus the supplies they used . Learn a new technique that you have been wanting to try out.    If you have the budget - purchase a few new supplies!  Find things tha...
